Walls

Straight walls, in any direction, with end cages, openings and ring beams. Basement walls have their own guide.

Create a wall

Open the Wall menu on the 3D Modeling toolbar. The wall is created on the active level.

CommandButtonWhat it does
MODEL_WALLWallA straight wall, from two points on its axis.
MODEL_WALL_CAGEWall cageA separate, rectangular end cage.
MODEL_WALL_CAGE_FROM_POLYCage from polylineA cage from a closed polyline: four vertices give a rectangle, more give an L or T shape.
MODEL_WALL_BELTWall beltA ring beam on top of the selected walls.

MODEL_WALL asks in turn:

  1. Insertion method [Two-points/One-point] <Two-points>: — two points on the axis, or one point and the length.
  2. Wall start point on centerline: and Wall end point on centerline: — the ends of the axis.
  3. Thickness BW [cm] <25>: — the thickness.
  4. Height [cm] — the height; that of the level is proposed.

End cages

  • When both ends are the same, the cage comes from the wall reinforcement: its length, vertical bars and stirrups are set in REBAR_EDIT.
  • When the ends differ, or at corners and junctions, you place a separate cage with Wall cage or Cage from polyline. A cage placed by hand replaces, at that end, the cage from the wall reinforcement.
  • A cage that touches walls joins their assembly by itself. If it does not, group the elements with WALL_ASSEMBLY_CREATE (Wall assembly).

Openings

WALL_OPENING_ADD (Add opening) asks for the wall, the width and height of the opening (Opening width W [cm] <80>:, Opening height H [cm] <210>:), its position along the wall and from the base, then the number and diameter of the edge bars.

  • The opening shows as an outline in the model, the wall is cut, and the opening gets a code (G1, G2…).
  • Edit, Move, Copy and Delete opening work on the selected opening. An opening cannot leave the wall or overlap another one.
  • Field bars stop at the opening. Small openings close together are treated as a group, and the bars run across the gaps between them.
  • From 100 cm upwards, field bars get a hook towards the opening and edge bars are added.

Reinforce

  • The wall: vertical and horizontal bars (diameter and spacing), links and, where it applies, the end cage.
  • A separate cage and a ring beam are reinforced with REBAR_EDIT too: for the ring beam, top and bottom bars and stirrups.

Walls over several levels

  • WALL_PLANS_MODE (Wall plans mode) chooses how stacked walls are drawn: cumulative, over the whole height (default), or per level.
  • WALL_LAP_POS (Wall splice position) chooses where the vertical bars are spliced: at the base of the level, at mid-height, or continuous over the ground floor.
  • MODEL_WALL_CONVERT (Convert wall type) turns a wall between superstructure and basement. Geometry and openings are kept; the reinforcement is assigned again.

What appears on the sheets

  • The elevation, with grid axes, dimensions and level marks, the vertical section and the horizontal section, at 1:50.
  • The cage details, at 1:25.
  • The ring beam: elevation at 1:50 and section at 1:25, on its own sheet.
  • The sheets are called REINF_Walls and REINF_Belts (ARMA_Pereti and ARMA_Centuri when the drawings are in Romanian).

Good to know

  • Curved walls are not covered. Superstructure walls have a constant height.
  • A column with a side ratio of 4 or more is modelled as a wall.
  • After MODEL_EXTEND_END, openings left outside the wall are reported with [WARN].
